Bromeliad Araeococcus is a genus of the Bromeliaceae family native to most of tropical South America where it grows as an epiphyte using it's roots to cling to trees. Araeococcus are thin, clustering plants with a bulbous base and very thin whip-like leaves reaching up to 48 inches tall. The inflorescence on most species is a short panicle of berries with a tiny flower on the tip of each berry. There are 6 known species of Araeococcus and they are not common in cultivation.
