Orthophytum

The bromeliad genus Orthophytum resembles a cross between Dyckia and Cryptanthus and has about 20 known species. They have rosettes of a few, spiny leaves and some have beautiful leaf banding. When they flower, the stem of most species elongates, stretching the leaves up with it. The flowers are significant. Culture as for Cryptanthus, but they are hardier.
